Thule racks go by a bunch of different names, depending on what circle you’re traveling in.
Whether you call it a roof rack, a sport rack, a bike rack, a ski rack, or a snowboard rack, you can be sure a Thule rack is a quality product.
Great products from a great company
Thule is a great company if you’re looking for quality, dependability, and integrity. 90+% of the products they sell in the US are built in the US. What’s more is that they’re a green company with transparent environmental reports and five core tenets of lowering environmental impact. These include optimizing their products for sustainability, reducing energy use, reducing water use, reducing waste and increasing recycling, and responsible sourcing. It’s pretty cool that a company that helps you get out and explore nature does its part to help preserve nature.
Getting to know your Thule roof rack
Thule roof racks add utility and carrying capacity to your truck, letting you carry more gear for your vacation or more supplies for the job. They’re a great addition to any truck, including those that have a camper shell.
Thule racks fit on most any truck or SUV. This is accomplished by a variety of tower designs for different connections:
- Gutter mount: similar to old-school vans, where there’s a rain gutter to clamp onto
- Vehicle-specific: clamps on where the tower sits on the roof with a specific kit
- Existing rack: attaches via the factory racks that run front to back with no crossbars
- Tracks/rails: some vehicles have tracks on the roof which Thule racks can mount on (Campway’s can also install tracks/rails if you don’t have them, perhaps on a camper shell)
Most of Thule’s racks are also removable, allowing you the freedom of easy removal in case the need arises.
Once you’ve got your racks installed, you can add attachments to help you carry whatever gear you need to. Attachments are sport specific, letting you safely and securely transport your stand up paddle board, mountain bike, road bike, skis, snowboards, kayaks, and so on. Or, pack all your stuff away in a Thule rooftop box, which gives you extra room and weather protection at the same time.
