Like a 5th wheel hitch, a gooseneck hitch installs above or below the truck bed, and offers the same benefits of higher towing capacity. The difference is gooseneck hitches use a ball and coupler. Typically, they are used for horse and livestock trailers. The design of the gooseneck hitch allows for minimal obstruction when the ball is not in use allowing for full use of the pick-up truck bed.
